About Rotaract District 3220 Sri Lanka & Maldives

Rotaract is an international youth organization consisting of over two hundred thousand members from around the world. Our motto, “fellowship through service” commits all Rotaractors to a common cause in serving our community, developing professional qualities of youth and promoting international understanding among all people. Along with Interact, we are the youth partners of Rotary International, one of the largest service organizations in the world. Rotary International is a world non- profit humanitarian organization recognized for its valiant efforts in global Polio eradication as well as help rendered in the aftermath of natural disasters such as the 2005 Tsunami and Hurricane Katrina.

Rotaract is a global youth movement sponsored by Rotary to empower youth to lead positive change in communities. The movement is led by proactive and dynamic young men and women between the age of 18 – 30 years. Rotaract was introduced to Sri Lanka in the year 1969 and has evolved since then as a youth led platform nurturing fellowship and leadership for social innovation in the country. Presently the movement has over 4000 Rotaractors representing 70 Rotaract from several regions in the Island namely Colombo, Kandy, Kurunegala, Hatton, Rathnapura, Badulla, Panduwasnuwara and Jaffna.

Overview

Rotaract District 3220 Sri Lanka and Maldives is the local counterpart of the world renowned Rotaract movement, the youth focus organization of Rotary International. Rotaract District 3220 Sri Lanka and Maldives carries out the aims of Rotary International with its strong three thousand five hundred membership consisting of more than sixty-five Corporate, Community and Higher Educational Institutions (both State and Private) based clubs providing invaluable service to the greater community. Rotaract Clubs in Sri Lanka are based in many cities and major universities in Sri Lanka including, but not limited to, Colombo, Kandy, Panadura, Kelaniya, Nuwara-Eliya, Jaffna, Batticaloa, Kurunegala, University of Peradeniya, University of Colombo, University of Sri Jayawardenapura, University of Moratuwa and University of Kelaniya.

Each year, Rotaract Clubs of Sri Lanka organize a number of worthy projects addressing the four avenues of Rotaract: Community Service, Professional Development, Club Services, and International Service. Other than that, the Rotaract District 3220 Sri Lanka and Maldives can be defined as an unmatchable catalyst in promoting peace and harmony, co-existence and tolerance, personal development and professional ethics.
